The Gardens

The farmhouse looks out southwards on to mature gardens which are painstakingly maintained by Janet and her miniature wire-haired Dachshunds. Beyond the gardens the outlook is onto the meadow including trees of Raoul Beech, Horse Chestnut, Silver Pendant Lime, Scarlet and Chestnut-leaved Oaks, beyond which is the deep gorge comprising part of the Den of Airlie.

During the summer months some of our rare-breed Longhorn cattle will be grazing here, along with the grandchildren’s ponies. To the eastern end of the lawns is the woodland area home to our Red Squirrels and bounded by the wee stream which can be a children’s delight for paddling and exploring. Beyond the woodland are the newly created flower beds where we grow cut flowers and have planted over twenty traditional varieties of apple trees.
